How to Choose a DEWBU Heated Jacket

Choose a heated jacket by starting with exposure and mobility. DEWBU 12V jackets share five heating zones across the belly, arms, and back, but their fabrics, hood designs, pockets, and everyday feel are different. Compare men’s heated jackets and women’s heated jackets, then use those differences—not color alone—to narrow your choice.

Choose softshell for exposed outdoor conditions

Our Classic and Detachable Hood Softshell jackets use a stretch polyester outer that is windproof, water-resistant, and scratch-resistant. They are the stronger starting point for outdoor work, riding, hunting, ice fishing, skiing, or other situations where wind and light precipitation are part of the day.

Choose fleece for softness and layering

Our Polar Fleece jackets are softer and easy to layer for commuting, camping, daily wear, or drier cold. They are windproof and scratch-resistant, but not water-resistant, so choose softshell when wet-weather protection is a priority.

Choose the hood and storage setup

The Classic uses a fixed, foldable hood and offers the highest pocket count in each gender lineup. The Detachable Hood model trades some pocket capacity for a removable hood. The men’s Bomber has no hood and uses a stand collar with rib-knit cuffs and hem.

Compare the shared heating system

Our 12V jackets use five heating zones—two at the belly, two on the arms, and one on the back—with low, medium, and high settings up to 140°F. With a fully charged 54Wh battery, runtime ranges from approximately 3.5–4 hours on high to 9–10 hours on low. Learn more about the power system in DEWBU 12V Technology.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I wear a DEWBU heated jacket in rain or snow?

Our softshell heated jackets are windproof and water-resistant, so they can handle light rain or snow. They are not fully waterproof and should not be treated as rain jackets for prolonged heavy precipitation. Polar Fleece jackets are windproof and scratch-resistant but are not water-resistant.

How do I adjust the temperature on a DEWBU heated jacket?

Press the power button to move between three heat settings: red for high at up to 140°F, blue for medium at approximately 125°F, and green for low at approximately 110°F. Start on high for faster warm-up, then switch to a lower setting as needed to extend runtime.

Can I power a DEWBU heated jacket from a motorcycle or other vehicle?

Yes. With the optional 12V vehicle power cable, a compatible DEWBU 12V heated jacket can run from a suitable active 12V outlet or power system on many motorcycles, ATVs, RVs, boats, and other vehicles. The jacket receives continuous power only while it remains connected to a compatible active source.

Can I take a DEWBU heated jacket battery on a plane?

Yes. The jacket can travel with you, but its 54Wh lithium-ion power bank must be packed in your carry-on baggage and protected from damage and short circuit. Do not place the battery in checked baggage. Review your airline’s rules and the FAA battery guidance before traveling.

Can DEWBU heated jackets be machine washed?

Yes. Remove the battery, secure the connector inside the closed battery pocket, place the jacket in a mesh laundry bag, and wash cold on a gentle cycle. Line dry only; do not bleach, dry clean, wring, iron, or tumble dry.
